The Portuguese School of Equestrian Art (EPAE), one of the raresimum four academies existing in Europe, will mark its 45th anniversary with an international gala, on the next September 13, at 9:30 p.m., at the Campo Pequeno, in Lisbon, in the presence of special guests, of Portugal and abroad, and which will feature an unheard of moment: in what will be the highlight of the evening, the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will, for the first time, condecorate the institution, which he considers " heiress of a secular past from the eighteen-century and start of the nineteenth century" and worthy of "homage and gratitude". This distinction happens in a year when UNESCO is expected to recognize Portuguese Equestrian Art as the Immaterial Heritage of Humanity, this being a unique cultural heritage in the world.
In addition to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, the “Gala 45 Years of Equestrian Art” will feature Real Escuela Andaluza del Art Ecuestre, by Jerez de la Frontera (Spain), with Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts (United Arab Emirates ), who makes his debut in Portugal, and with the Equestrian Center of the Leziria Grande, founded by Master Luís Valença, an inevitable figure of Portuguese equestrian art, to whom tribute will be paid during the show.
