APSL hereby informs that, following several months of work organising the International Lusitano Horse Festival, in Cascais, it has recently been unable to install, within the Festival premises, the professional flooring that we considered essential for the event, in order to ensure the technical, safety and quality standards required for an event of this scale and international prestige.
This requirement was communicated by APSL in August 2025 and agreed upon at a meeting with Cascais Municipal Council as part of the preparations for the event.
Given that permission was not granted to install this surface at the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome, and bearing in mind that APSL cannot compromise animal welfare, the safety of participants or the standards of excellence associated with the Lusitano horse and the Festival itself, we were forced to take the decision to move the event to Lisbon.
This decision was taken with a strong sense of responsibility and solely in the interests of the Festival’s success, as well as that of the breeders, riders, presenters, partners and all those who honour the Lusitano horse in Portugal and abroad.
The APSL remains fully committed to ensuring that this year’s International Lusitano Horse Festival is a successful event, worthy of the importance of our breed and the international projection that this event represents.
The 2026 International Lusitano Horse Festival will therefore take place on the same date, at Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa, in Lisbon.
